KARL ONIBUJE – BIO
Karl Onibuje is an innovative composer, producer, and multi- instrumentalist hailing from South East London. His passion for music ignited at a young age, leading him to craft a distinctive sound that seamlessly blends Pop, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Electronica, Improvisation, and Experimentation. Inspired by icons like Aphex Twin, John Coltrane, Kanye West, Joni Mitchell and Fela Kuti, Karl’s compositions captivate diverse audiences with their depth and originality.
Self-taught and driven, he earned a scholarship to Berklee College of Music, where he honed his craft. Recognized for his talent, Karl has played Electric, Upright, and Synth Bass for renowned artists such as Laura Mvula, Christine & The Queens, Courtney Pine, Soweto Kinch and Jason Rebello. His production and writing skills shone through his collaboration with the pop band Deco on their debut album, Destination: I Don’t Know.
With four solo albums and a band album titled 1000 KINGS – Raw Cause to his name, as well as various Library Music Albums with BMG, his work has garnered attention on platforms such as BBC Radio 3 & 6, Jazz FM, and has performed at prestigious Jazz Festivals.
Currently, Karl is focused on creating new material that challenges genres while echoing his musical journey. With exciting collaborations and live performances on the horizon, fans can expect a fresh wave of innovative sounds and captivating experiences.
